THE NEW GANCEDO SHOWROOM IN BARCELONA

Gancedo has just opened a brand-new showroom at Pau Clarís 115 in Barcelona, heralding a new chapter in their 79-year history (formerly it was on the emblematic Rambla Cataluña). Boasting a contemporary cosmopolitan style, this space proves the perfect setting to present the textile company’s broad portfolio, ranging from fabrics and wallpapers to rugs and paints.

A unique selection of products

At the Gancedo showroom, individual clients and interior design professionals have the opportunity to consult and choose from a wide-ranging array of designs from renowned international companies, including Sanderson, Morris & Co, Fabricut, Clarence House, as well as the recent additions Mind the Gap and Ohpopsi, to name but a few

Undoubtedly, this new space (located in what was a garage and later an architectural studio) provides an inspiring scenario where ideal solutions can be found for interior design projects. The Acto architects in charge of its design (María Figueras, Cristina Marcos and Alejandro Sanjuan) have created a light, luminous atmosphere, with multifunctional metal fitments and a dynamic display system, specifically fashioned for the location, with moveable counters and fabrics draped over hangers. Because, as the architects saw it, the quintessence of the project lay in the quest for flexibility and practicality, in accommodating everyday needs and offering a versatile space for events.

In terms of design, they went for a contrast between the heaviness and lightness of raw metal, with reflective surfaces that play with light without overshadowing the products. The colour palette follows the same line, permitting the products to be the ones to add the colourful note.

An outstanding aspect of the new space is the presence of natural light, which enters through a skylight in the ceiling, lighting up the backdrop of the showroom and creating a bright, welcoming atmosphere. The blue tiles, in tune with the brand’s corporate colour, add a distinctive touch to the interior design. The industrial aesthetics of the location, in keeping with  characteristic Barcelona tastes, reflect a merging of the contemporary and the traditional, creating an attractive, modern environment for visitors.
